Kimberley region
The Kimberley region in the northern part of Western Australia is extraordinary, something you have never seen before. It has the most spectacular scenery, with magical rock formations, deep red colours, beautiful waterfalls, craggy rocks, deep canyons, impressive gorges and much much more. The Kimberley region is approximately ten times the size of Switzerland, but only 30,000 people live there - the population is quite low because of the tough living and weather conditions of the region, ranging from hot and humid in summer to dry and cool in winter. The best time of the year to visit is late April to November and an excellent way to see one of the most impressive parts of the Kimberley is by travelling along the Gibb River Road with a 4WD. Mitchell Plateau, Purnululu (Bungle Bungles), Tunnel Creek, Windjana Gorge, El Questro and Lake Argyle are just a few of the many attractions in the region. Take your time and enjoy the drive, you will be travelling through one of the oldest rock country in the world – a truly spectacular experience awaits you.
