Corner Country
Corner country is located where the borders of South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland meet. It is a very remote area that is yet to be discovered and represents the real outback of New South Wales. The town where the borders meet is called Cameron and it is here where visitors can see part of the famous rabbit-proof fence. The world’s longest fence with a length of 5,614 km, originally established to keep the rabbits out, but now also used to prevent dingoes from entering areas where sheep are grazing. The region shows visitors how people lived in early days and a good way of exploring is walking along the Milparinka’s 1800 heritage trail. This trail takes visitors along an old cemetery, a courthouse, police barracks and a local art gallery. The Sturt National Park is worth a visit for anyone interested in local bird and other wildlife. The drive from Sydney to the Corner Country takes about two days as it is on the far Western side of New South Wales.
