Mission Beach
The coastal settlement opposite Hinchinbrook Island, Mission Beach, is named for the Aboriginal mission which was established in the area in 1914. The beach which features in the town’s name is a 14 km stretch of pristine white sand, perfectly fringed by swaying palm trees and World Heritage-listed wet tropical rainforests. Artists, potters, painters, sculptors and writers have been drawn to the town since its early days. Mission Beach today is a much-loved, but low-key holiday destination.
