Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens
The delightful Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens were established in 1818 and today, they are one of the best in the whole of Australia. There is a fern house, a conservatory, a cactus house, a sub-Antarctic plant house and even a ‘veggie patch’! Visitors can even see some early convict walls and even fireplaces which were designed to provide the necessary warmth for some of the more fragile plants on display – after all, Tasmania's climate can be quite unkind in the cold winter months! The gardens are located in Hobart’s Lower Domain Road.
