Wilsons Promontory

Wilsons Promontory is a peninsula that forms the southernmost part of Australia. The park is known to locals as "The Prom", and is famous for its abundance of native animals, birds, reptiles and plants, superb beaches and solid coastal forest. Wilsons Promontory Marine National Park extends along 70 km of mainland coastline and covers 15,550 hectares, with the park providing spectacular underwater scenery. Beneath the waters of the Wilsons Promontory Marine National Park is an astounding diversity of plants and animals, including some that are found nowhere else in Victoria. Huge granite boulders and pinnacles rise from the sand, topped by carpets of multi-coloured seaweed. The park also includes islands that are home to penguins and seabirds and some that are used as breeding grounds for Australian Fur Seals. Just outside the boundaries of the national park, delight in sampling the vast varieties of premium wine, quality meats, fine cheese and produce the region has to offer. You will find restaurants, tearooms, hotels and cafes all offering delightful local treats.
