Spirit of Tasmania
The “Spirit of Tasmania” is one of Australia’s great journeys,
transferring passengers 429 kilometers from the mainland to Tasmania
across the Bass Straight. The two vessels “Spirit of Tasmania I and II”
were built in Finland in 1998. Journeys operate between Port Melbourne,
Victoria and East Devonport, Tasmania, crossing the Bass Strait at a
cruising speed of 27 knots which is the equivalent of approximately 50
km/h. Passengers can chose between day or overnight journeys. A variety
of travel options are available, customers can book dayseats,
recliners, multishare or private cabins. Fares include accommodation as
booked plus access to all bars, lounges, entertainment and facilities
on board. The Tasmanian tourism promotion agency has got representative
onboard and provides travelers with an excellent source of information
on their way to the “Apple State”.
