Hawkesbury River and Central Coast
Hawkesbury River and the Central Coast are located about one hour drive north of Sydney via the Pacific Highway. It is a region full of attractions and activities for family holidays, short getaways or daytrips. The region has six national parks and several national reserves where visitors can enjoy various activities. One can undertake a coastal walk in Bouddi National Park and in Wyrrabalong and enjoy the magnificent coastal views or spot whales in season (late June to mid-August). Go to Dharug National Park and step back in time and visit the convict-built road. Explore the beautiful rainforest in Watagans National Park (also ideal for taking scenic drives) or see the wildflowers during late winter and early spring in Brisbane Waters National Park. For those wanting to admire Aboriginal sites, Popran National Park is worth a visit or pop-in at the Bulgandry Aboriginal site in Brisbane Waters National Park.
