St. Helens
This popular holiday town on the shores of Georges Bay is most famous for its delicious crayfish and scalefish that help sustain a thriving restaurant scene in town. Surrounding hills and warm sea breezes of the East Coast create a mild micro-climate year round. Close to St. Helens is the truly amazing Bay of Fires Conservation Area. The name was given by a French explorer who spotted Aboriginal campfires along the bay when he sailed up the coast. Beach fishing, camping and sensational walking opportunities await the visitor.
