Australian Institute of Sport

The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) is a world-class sporting facility where athletes train. The AIS is the training ground for many elite athletes. The Sports Visitors Centre is the entrance point. During a tour visitors can take on a sporting challenge and test their skills in Sportex, the interactive sports experience. In Sportex, guests can see how they would measure up against elite athletes and world champions. There are also videos and tributes and opportunities to learn about the latest sports technology. If anyone would really like to experience sport where the champions train, they can go for a swim in the AIS pool, enjoy a sauna or game of tennis, as many of the AIS facilities are open to the public. Visitors can also watch gymnasts in training; see some of Australia’s top swimmers doing their laps or bump into other sporting world champions. Other displays include nutrition, sports medicine and a legends tribute to some of Australia’s greatest champions.
