Footy - A national passion
Australians love their ‘footy’. Referred to as ‘Aussie Rules' the game boasts the most loyal and dedicated fans. AFL (Australian Football League) was originated in Melbourne and is uniquely Australian. Each weekend during the colder months, thousands of Australians flood in crowded football stadiums around the country to support their favourite teams. In total there are 16 teams and in every game supporters proudly wear team colours, barracking for favourite players with passionate cheering at every opportunity. The great game annually ends in a Grand Final played every year at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) traditionally on the last Saturday of September.
