The magnificent
Southwest National Park encompasses over 6,000 ha of wild, inspiring country and forms part of the
Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. This is the largest and grandest of Tasmania's National Parks and contains some of the most rugged, wild and untouched wilderness coastline in the world which, which would usually only be seen by the more daring bushwalkers. The best known walks in the park are the 70 km
Port Davey Track between
Scotts Peak Road and
Melaleuca and the 85 km track between Cockle Creek and Melaleuca. The rainforests contain trees only found in
Tasmania, including the gian Huon Pine and the towering King Billy Pine.
