Tamworth

Tamworth is Australia’s Country Music Capital and is home to the largest annual country music festival in the Southern Hemisphere. Each year in January the town gets visited by over 500.000 visitors from all over the world. 800 artists, 2,500 acts and 120 different venues make Tamworth a heaven for country music lovers. But the link with country music does not end when the festival is over, year-round there are a number of country music attractions, including the award-winning Walk a Country Mile interpretive exhibit, the Australian Country Music Foundation Museum or the Gallery of Stars Wax Museum. And no visit to Tamworth is complete without stopping for a photo in front of the “Big Golden Guitar”, a giant guitar that greets visitors to Tamworth. Apart of the music many visitors come to Tamworth for the heritage and culture; just about everywhere in town one can find heritage listed buildings, from the King George V Avenue of English Oaks, the railway station built in 1878 or the War Memorial Hall in Fitzroy Street. The Tamworth region is one that combines country living with city style, history, sports and culture.
