Waitangi

The town of Waitangi is the “home” of a treaty between Māori people and white settlers, the “Treaty of Waitangi” was signed on 6 February 1840, it made New Zealand a part of the British Empire, guaranteed Māori rights to their land and gave Māori  the rights of British citizens. The birthplace of modern New Zealand is situated in a beautiful coastal environment and it offers visitors not only a most interesting insight into the country’s most historic event, but nearby ocean beaches and waterways offer an excellent maritime playground.
